Yoga became Indian ambassador of culture: Amit Shah

Rohtak: The Minister of the Interior of the Union, Amit Shah, says that the ancient Indian practice of yoga has become the ambassador of Indian culture around the world.
Shah also attributed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to taking the world of yoga.
Speaking at state-level yoga celebrations organized by the Government of Haryana here, he said that on December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed June 21 as “International Day of Yoga” after the Prime Minister proposed the idea.
The International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21 to raise global awareness of the benefits of ancient Indian practice. Chess said Yoga played a key role in promoting our culture.
He said Yoga is practiced in 200 countries around the world and added that it will help inspire millions of children who will commit themselves to connecting yoga with their lives.
The Minister of the Interior said that when India was under foreign rule in the past, yoga was limited to saints and psychics.
Shah said that many people gave their contribution to the promotion of yoga, but international recognition came only in 2014.
