Wrestler Babita Phogat resigned as Inspector, likely to contest state election

New Delhi: The resignation of Babita Phogat, an international wrestler of Haryana Police, has been accepted. Babita, who joined BJP on August 12, is likely to contest the upcoming state assembly elections.
According to reports, the 29-year-old sub-inspector with the Haryana Police submitted his resignation a month ago, which was accepted on 10 September.
Babita was appointed in 2013 under the sports quota in the Haryana Police to the Congress government led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
There is speculation that Babita will be given a ticket by BJP from Badhra or Dadri in Charkhi Dadri district to contest the state assembly elections, which is likely in October.
