World Cup 2019: ICC approves Agarwala as Shankar replacement

New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved Mayank Agarwal as a replacement for Vijay Shankar in the Indian Division for the rest of the tournament.
The ICC confirmed that the Technical Committee of the World Cup for Men ICC 2019 approved a replacement.
The multiple player Sankar was excluded from further participation in the event due to finger injury sustained during the training. Twenty-year-old Agarwal, a top batsman, played two tests, but he still has to play ODI.
Earlier that day, the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) requested the ICC’s permission to replace Vijaya Shankara with Mayank Agarwal and it was approved.
Replacement of the player requires the approval of the Technical Board of the competition before the substitute player can be officially added to the team.
The ICC 2019 World Cup Cricket World Cup Committee consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, ETC Chairman), Campbell Jamieson (ICC Representative), Steve Elworthy (CWC representative), Alan Fordham (Host Representative), Harsha Bhogle and Kumar Sangakkara (both independent representatives).
