Vikas Swarup was appointed Secretary of the Overseas Affairs of India

New Delhi: Senior diplomat Vikas Swarup was appointed Secretary for Foreign Indian Affairs, according to an order issued by the Ministry of Staff on Friday.
Swarup, an officer in India’s affairs in 1986, is currently High Commissioner of India in Ottawa. It was previously set up in countries such as Turkey, the United States, Ethiopia, Great Britain and South Africa.
He was appointed Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa and Foreign Indian Affairs) to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with effect from August 1, 2019.
Vikas Swamp is also known for his popular fictions such as 0 & A, Six Suspects and The Accidental Apprentice. His first novel, O & A, was adapted in the Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire”.
He regularly wrote articles to TIME, The Guardian, The Telegraph, the Financial Times, and other internationally recognized publications.
