Dhenkanal:As a part of UNFPA Country Programme 9 Evaluation Ms Ranjani Murthy, Consultant UNFPA visited Makuakateni panchayat of Kankadahad block, Dhenkanal on 16th September,21. Meeting the SHG and PRI members in the Panchayat office of Makuakateni, Ms Murthy had discussion with them on-
How the ward members and sarpanch incorporating and acting on issues related to child marriage, domestic violence into panchayat level activities.
What are the enabling conditions for girls and women planned /created in the past 6 months?
Engagement of SHG leaders in addressing issues of gender-based violence and support extended to enable girl and woman-friendly panchayats.
She asked the SHG leaders what changes could be made in the intervention model. SHG and PRI members discussed about changes in knowledge in girls and women’s issues and few of their innovative steps such as – creating WhatsApp group for emergency redressal of issues,use of auto for for safe transport and rehabilitation of girls or women needing protection/rehabilitation etc. The said visit of UNFPA representative was facilitated by the gender consultant, Ms Manisha Majumdar and the project team working in the project supported by UNFPA. Ms Murthy also interacted with the Director,SOVA, Mr Udyayendu Mishra and management team to get their opinion for further improvisation of the intervention.
