Tricolor at Lal Chowk: Big plan to celebrate I-Day in J & K

New Delhi: After taking a historic decision on Article 370, the Center is making big plans to celebrate Independence Day in Jammu and Kashmir.
The national flag will be hoisted at Lal Chowk in Srinagar to mark the 73rd Independence Day. According to sources, Home Minister Amit Shah is set to travel to Srinagar to hoist the tricolor at Lal Chowk on 15 August.
The Center had repealed Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir and divided the border state into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
If the Union Home Minister hoists the tricolor at Lal Chowk, it will be another historic step of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Reports suggest that the Center is holding internal discussions on preparations for the celebrations. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is currently overseeing the situation in the Valley.
In 1945, when the first Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled the national flag here, Lal Chowk came into importance.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon has opposed the idea of ??hoisting the national flag in Srinagar after repealing Section 370.
On 15 August, in response to reports of the national flag flying high on Lal Chowk, Memon said: “This is a very delicate thing. This should not provoke and anger the Kashmiris. ”
