Top Jaish commander among two killed in Shopian encounter

Srinagar: South Kashmir’s highest-ranking commander, Munna Lahori alias Bihari, who was known for making improvised explosive devices (IED), was killed along with his local associate after an overnight operation in the Bona Bazaar area of ??Shopian district.
Acting on reliable information on the presence of militants, security forces launched a cordon and search in the Shoban area of ??Bonbazar early Saturday morning.
As the cordon tightened around the hiding militants, they fired on security forces, sparking an encounter in which two militants were killed.
Munna Lahori came from Pakistan. He was responsible for “a series of killings of Kashmir civilians,” officials said.
