Tomorrow WCD Minister to Honor States and Districts under BBBP Scheme

New Delhi: The districts and states successfully implementing the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme will be honored by Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani.
The ceremony and award ceremony will be held in New Delhi tomorrow. Debashree Chaudhary, Minister of State will be the honored guest at the ceremony.
The objective of the program is to honor states and districts that are doing well to improve the sex ratio (excellent performance in awareness generation and outreach) according to the Health Management Information System (HMIS) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
On this occasion, the Minister of WCD will honor the Principal Secretaries / Commissioners of 5 states and District Commissioners of 10 districts of 9 states for continuous improvement in SRB.
District Magistrates / Deputy Commissioners of 10 additional districts in 8 states will also be awarded for outstanding performance under awareness generation and outreach activities.
A slideshow of innovations will also be organized by the states / districts under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, with short videos of innovative interventions by the winning states and districts.
The BBBP scheme was launched on 22 January 2015. It is now being implemented in 640 districts and all these districts are covered through advocacy and media campaigns. Out of these districts, 405 fall under multi-sectoral intervention, with 100% centrally sponsored scheme grant directly to DM / DC for BBBP.
The latest report on state / UT-wise SRB data for the period 2014–15 and 2018–19 shows an increase in SRB from 918 to 931, showing improvement trends at the national level.
