The man drowned in the Brahmani river at Vedvyas ghat

Rourkela: A 35-year-old man drowned while he was drowning in the Brahmani River in the Vedvyas ghatu in the suburb of Rourkela, Sundergarh, on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Pripurari Sahoo, a native of Bihar. According to sources, Sahoo came to visit his relatives in Dandiapalli.
Sources say Sahoo, along with members of this family, came to Vedvyas Ghat near Panposh to pay tribute to their ancestors. After performing the ritual, the family swam in the river when Sahoo entered deep water and disappeared.
One of his family members also became a victim of strong currents, but rescued by villagers, sources added.
On the intimacy, firefighting personnel reached the site and recovered the body from deep water after hours of temptation.
Allegedly, the police seized the body and sent to death. The body will be handed over to the grieving family after the autopsy.
