Schools with minimum student strength should be closed: S & ME Minister

Bhubaneswar: Following the decision of the district officer for the education of Koraput to close schools with minimal student strength, the state government has identified 966 schools across Odish with the same issue.
This was informed by Minister Samir Dash from the School and Mass Education (S & M).
According to the reports, Odisha’s government has decided to close schools with a student strength of less than 10. In addition, students closing schools will be transferred to nearby schools located within 1 km from the old school. Students will also receive travel expenses to help them reach their school. The amount of money will be given to the parents for 10 months of the year, the minister informed.
While students with more than 75 percent of attendance will receive 600 rupees as travel costs per month, 400 euros per month will be awarded to students with 50-75 percent of attendance, Dash said.
Similarly, transport costs of 300 dinars will be provided to students, whose attendance rate is between 30 and 50 percent, added the minister S & ME.
