SAI trust flags off two Mobile Food Banks

Bhubaneswar: Taking initiative to eradicate hunger from Odisha, for the first time “So AM I Foundation Trust (SAI)”, successfully flagged off two Mobile Food Banks and launched its food grain donation initiative “Shradha Arpana Initiative” under which the foundation will collect donated food grains from across the city for the underprivileged, here at Utkal Galleria.
To grace the occasion Former DG Police & Hon’ble Lokayukta, Odisha, Dr. R.P.Sharma; Gyanapitha Awardee & Noted Novelist, Dr. Pratibha Ray; Noted Linguist, Padmashree Debiprasanna Pattnaik; CMD, Odisha Police Housing Corporation, Odisha, Sri Lalit Das, IPS; Former District Governor (2016-17), Rotary International District 3262, Rtn Ajay Agarwal; District Governor Elect, Rotary International District 3262, Rtn Saumya Ranjan Mishra were present at the time of launch.
The mobile food banks are first of its kind in Bhubaneswar which aims at providing donated food to the underprivileged in different parts of the city. The idea of food grain donation came from the ancient Odia practice of “muthi chaula” which means a fist full of rice for the people who serve for society. With the similar idea under the “Shradha Arpana Initiative”, this time it has come up with the foundation has come up with new concept of donating food grains through which the trust will distribute bags in the selective apartments/societies/households in the smart city for the collection of grains which will later be collected by So Am I once in fortnight.
The main objective of SAI Trust is to fight against hunger and malnutrition through network food banks in every district by 2025. This innovative idea of starting food bank is a dream project of Pinaki Mohanty, the founder of So Am I, which is nurtured and support by Dr. Chidatmika Khatua, a well known social activist and Dr. Rina Routray, A noted Environmental scientist and social leader.Speaking on the initiative, Pinaki Mohanty, Founder of So AM I (SAI) said,” Previously we have implemented this food bank initiative in two places, Acharya Vihar and Ram Mandir, and planning next food banks in the same city, and we are planning to spread this initiative in different city across the state.”
While some other Eminent Personalities like Sri Dhirendra Kar from USA; Trupti Motors’s Managing Director Sri Bimalendu Mohanty; CMD, Team Ad Sri Nishikanta Mishra; Executive Director Sambad Group Ms Tanaya Pattnaik; MD, Utkal Builders Sri Sarad Baid; Managing Director SJ Developers Sri Matrudutta Mishra; CMD Shree Hospital Ms Shalini Kothakonda; Head-CSR Tata Steel Sri Ambika Nanda; Adani Group Odisha Sri Suvendu Parida; Sri Subhash Chandra Gupta Rishta Food Products also joined this special occasion to light up the event.
