Rogers Cup: Rohan Bopanna, Denis Shapovalov lost in semi-finals

Canada: India’s Rohan Bopanna and his partner Denis Shapovalov crashed out of the ATP Montreal Masters on Saturday and suffered a straight-on defeat in the men’s doubles semifinal in Montreal.
The unseeded pair of Bopanna and Shapovalov defeated the Dutch combination of Robin Haase and Wesley Coolhoff 6-7 (3-7), 6-7 in the semi-finals.
Hasey and Coolhoff will now take on the Spanish-Argentine pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the title match on Sunday.
The Indo-Canadians received a walkover in their quarterfinal clash against France’s Benoit Pyre and Swiss Stan Vavinka.
Bopanna and Shapovalov had previously defeated the fourth seed French pair of Nicola Mahut and Edouard Roger-Veslin before defeating Kyle Edmund and Taylor Fritz in straight sets in the 16th round.
