Rajya Sabha, candidate Ashwini Baishnab joins the BJP

Bhubaneswar: Former IAS officer Ashwini Baishnab, who was named candidate of the BJP’s Rajya Sabha, joined the Bharatiya Janata party at the party’s headquarters today.
A former bureaucrat joined the saffron party in the presence of BJP chief Basant Panda and other senior leaders, including Samir Mohanty and Golak Mohapatru.It is important to mention here that a former IAS officer, Ashwini Baishnab, was announced yesterday as a candidate of the BJP for Rajoy Sabha. In the meantime, BJD has appointed Amara Patnaika, head of IT BJD’s wing and Sasmit Patra, spokesman and secretary (minority issues) as its candidate for additional elections for three Rajya Sabha sites in Odisha.
Chief Minister and BJD supreme Naveen Patnaik said his party will support Baishnab’s candidacy after talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah.
Elections for three Rajya Sabha seats in Odisha will be held on July 5th. The cities remained vacant following the resignation of current members who took part in the recently concluded Lok Sabha and parliamentary elections.
