PM Modi launches e-GramSwaraj portal

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched unified e-GramSwaraj portal and a mobile app while addressing various gram panchayats across the country on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day.
As the country is observing social distancing through the nationwide lockdown to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister interacted with various participants through video conferencing.
The villages in India have given the mantra of – ‘Do gaj doori ‘ to define social distancing in simpler terms, to fight coronavirus pandemic, said PM Modi during interaction with Sarpanches across the nation.
“Self-reliance is the biggest lesson from COVID-19 pandemic,” said PM Modi. “We need to be self dependent and prepared to manage all of our needs, without hoping for any support from outside.Strong Gram Panchayats are base for self-dependent villages”, added Modi.
Launching the e-Gram panchayat, the Prime Minister said that it will make panchayats across India digital.
The portal is a new initiative of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj which will provide the gram panchayats with a single interface to prepare and implement their Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
“So far, around 1.25 lakh Panchayats have been connected to broadband facilities,” Said Modi.
The e-GramSwaraj portal will enable any villager to know about the updates of the village development projects. This will increase transparency.
Prime Minister launched Swamitva Scheme on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day. With this, Demarcation of inhabited land in rural areas would be done by the use of latest surveying methods-Drone technology.
Under the SWAMITVA Yojana, drone mapping of villages will be undertaken. Title deeds will be allotted to the owners after assessment.
This will pave path for applying for loans from banks by the owners. Disputes related to property would also be settled, said PM Modi.
