Over 250 Migrants To Arrive In Odisha From Surat Today

Bhubaneswar: Over 250 migrants, who began their journey from Surat of Gujarat are expected to arrive in Odisha today. They were stranded in Surat due to lockdown.
According to sources, as many as 228 migrant workers boarded three buses from Hari Nagar area and one bus from Bhestan area of Surat. While three of the buses are Ganjam-bound, one bus will reach Nayagarh.
Travelling of the migrants has been permitted by local administrations.
On reaching Odisha, all migrants will be quarantined at temporary medical camps in their respective areas as per government norms.
Earlier on April 27, around 200 migrants had embarked on a journey from Surat to Ganjam district in buses.
Odisha Government has decided to bring back Odia migrant workers who are currently stranded in Gujarat. Most of the workers will be brought back to Odisha in buses, official sources said.
