Orissa HC dismisses petition for stay on SAT elimination order

Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Wednesday rejected the petition to stay the order of abolition of the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT). The court posted the next hearing on 5 September.
The Orissa HC has asked both the Center and the state government to respond to the matter.
A gazetted notification in this regard was issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions. In the notification, DoPT stated that it has revoked the earlier notification issued on July 4, 1986 for the establishment of SAT for the redressal of various grievances of state government employees.
On 5 August, the Center abolished the set under Section 4 (2) of the Administrative Tribunals Act 1985 and Section 21 of the General Clauses Act.
The President of Cuttack Set Bar Association, Dhuliram Patnaik filed a petition in the High court challenging the decision.
