OPTCL employees threaten ceasefire from 30 September

Bhubaneswar: A large number of employees working under Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) have threatened to oppose the ceasefire for their demands from 30 September.
According to sources, in collaboration with the “NCHEL Orissa Bidyut Mazdoor Mahasangh”, the employees of Optol have called for ceasefire work in all the power sub-divisions across the state. Their list of demands includes regularizing employees who have completed 7 years of service.
“We have already completed our term of regularization. Since the government considers ITI pass students as skilled employees, OPTCL has not given us promotion. OPTCL officials are violating the 5T rule of the government and are not promoting ITI skilled employees. An OPTCL employee said that the strike would continue till the demands were met.
The members of the All Odisha Power Employees Union have alleged that despite having discussions with the state government on this issue, nothing has been done yet.
The Union further threatened that the protests will continue until the demands are fulfilled. The strike will continue from September 30 in front of the main gate of OPTCL head office at Bhubaneswar.
