Opinion polls by Odisha Rajya Sabha: BJD, BJP candidates submit nomination

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Candidates for Rajya Sabha Surveys – Amar Patnaik and Sasmit Patra – today submitted their nominations to the State Assembly.
The two nominees for the polls on three seats of Rajya Sabha in Odisha submitted their nomination papers to the affected returnee in the presence of BJD Commander-in-Chief and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Bikram Keshari Arukha.
In the meantime, former bureaucrat Ashwini Baishnab, nominated by BJP for the Rajya Sabha polls, has also submitted his nominations in the presence of MLAs and BJD ministers, as the Conch Party supports his candidacy.
The three seats for Rajya Sabha, the Achyutananda Samanta held by BJD, Pratap Keshari Deb and Soumya Ranjan Patnaik remained vacant, as they had won in 2019 in the election segments Kandhamal Lok Sabha, Aul and Khandapada Assembly.
While Amar Patnaik has submitted a nomination for the vacant seat of Achyuta Samanta, Sasmit Patra has been proposed for the Rajya Sabha seat of Pratap Keshari Deb.
The term of office of Samanta and Patnaik in the upper house should end in April 2024. However, Debs was in Rajya Sabha until July 2022, so Sasmit Patra will spend only three years in Rajya Sabha.
