Bhubaneswar: Governor Pro. Ganeshi Lal inaugurated the Oil and Gas Conservation Awareness Campaign – Sakam 2020 at the IDCOL auditorium in Odisha on Thursday.
Addressing the occasion, the Governor has emphasized the need to conserve petroleum products at all costs as the preservation and efficient use of petroleum products will lead to better health and environmental protection and protection to the national economy.
Pro. Lal also said that the way we use fuel, it can be said that petroleum products will last for the next few decades. Therefore, oil industries with PCRA should organize such a program on a large scale to create awareness among the public about the importance of oil and gas conservation.
The Governor also flagged off the Oil and Gas Conservation Van, which will travel to all 30 districts of Odisha to spread the message of oil and gas conservation among the people in the state.SAKSHAM is an important annual event jointly organized by the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and the oil industry under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India. Guidelines of India and PCRA (Petroleum Conservation Research Association) with the sole aim of bringing awareness to the public about the need for oil and gas conservation and the means of doing it. In a period of one month, various activities will be carried out in areas such as transport, industrial, agriculture and domestic to spread the message on fuel conservation.
Oil Industries, in association with the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), will conduct training programs for drivers on better driving habits to save fuel. Workshops for wives of the house will be organized on better cooking habits to save LPG. To emphasize the importance of conservation, quizzes, debates and painting competitions will be organized in schools and colleges.
