NITI Aayog: Country is moving towards a novel governance system

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the country is moving towards a governance system characterized by performance, transparency and delivery.
Addressing the fifth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog in Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre here on Saturday, Modi said NITI Aayog has a key role to play in fulfilling the mantra of SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas and SabkaVishwas.
He spoke of a collective fight against poverty, unemployment, drought, flood, pollution, corruption and violence.
The Prime Minister said that everyone at this platform has a common goal of achieving a New India by 2022. He said the goal is to make India a 5 trillion dollar economy by 2024. It is challenging, but can surely be achieved, he said.
Dwelling upon water resources, the Prime Minister said water as an important element for life and added that the newly created Jal Shakti Ministry will help provide an integrated approach to water.
Modi said that many districts are affected by Naxal violence. He said the battle against Naxal violence is now in a decisive phase. He said violence will be dealt with firmly.
On the health sector, Modi said several targets have to kept in mind. These targets have to be achieved by 2022. He spoke about the target of eliminating TB by 2025.
The Prime Minister urged those states which have not implemented PMJAY under Ayushman Bharat till date to take necessary steps for its implementation.
