Naveen Opens National Workshop on Women’s and Children’s Safety

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today opened the “National Workshop on Wide Stakeholder Consultation on Women and Children’s Security”.
CM Odisha thanked the organization of the National Foundation and Institute and UNICEF for organizing the workshop. Patnaik also released a coffee table book on “Paree Paain Kathatiye – A Word for Little Angel,” as well as a documentary on Paree at Bhubaneswar Police Bhawan.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said: “I am delighted to know that the 15-day Paree Paain Kathatiye Social Awareness Campaign was a phenomenal success in raising awareness of the roles and responsibilities of parents, relatives and community members and sensitizing police personnel in the prevention of sexual offenses against underage children, especially underage girls. It is my hope that such noble initiatives by the Odyssey Police will continue in the next phase of the Paree Campaign to help tackle various social evils and atrocious crimes against women and children. “
“The police are responsible for creating a safe environment for citizens. I expect the State Police to take swift, effective and exemplary actions against antisocials and criminals, “the Chief Minister said.
“I hope that all-day discussions will bring fruitful ideas and develop an effective action plan that will ensure the safety of women and children in our society,” said Patnaik, in addition to thanking UNICEF for its continued support for women and children in the country Odyssey.
Among others, Minister of State for Home Captains Dibya Shankar Mishra, Development Commissioner Asit Kumar Tripathy, DGP Dr. RP Sharma, W&CD Secretary General present at the opening ceremony.
