Naveen announces candidates for the Rajya Sabha Survey

Bhubaneswar: supreme Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced Friday names of party candidates for additional elections for Rajya Sabha in Odisha.
Amar Patnaik, head of the BJD IT wing and Sasmit Patra, a spokesman and secretary (minority jobs), would be candidates for the BJD for the Rajya Sabha elections, Patnaik said.
He also informed that, according to talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah, the BJD will support the candidacy of Ashwani Vaishnav.
Ashwani Vaishnav was an IAS officer and the private secretary of late Prime Minister Attila Bihari Vajpayee and also worked in Odisha. Additional elections for three places of Rajya Sabha in Odisha will be held on July 5th. current members who were involved in the recently completed Lok Sabha and parliamentary elections.
The last day for submitting nominations is June 25th, and the counting of votes will take place on July 5 at 5 pm, an hour after the end of the vote.
The poll process must be completed by 9 July, the Election Commission said.
