Minor girl’s death sparks tension in Baripada hosp

Mayurbhanj: Tension prevailed in the premise of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada last night after the death of a minor girl due to alleged medical negligence.
The deceased differently-abled minor girl has been identified as Ranjita Patra (15), daughter of Birendra Patra of Chalunia village under Chandua police limits.
According to sources, the minor girl was admitted to the hospital last night following some stomach-related ailments.However, doctors and other staffers did not attend her immediately. At around 10 pm, a doctor administered an injection to Ranjita following which she fell unconscious and her health parameters went down drastically. Later, the doctors declared the girl dead.
Following the minor’s death, her family members and relatives blamed the hospital authorities and alleged that medical negligence led to her death. They also staged a demonstration by keeping the body of the deceased girl in front of the hospital.
The agitating family members have demanded stringent action against the doctors concerned, sources added. The family members of the deceased minor girl have also lodged an FIR against the doctor and two nurses.
