Manmohan Calls on Prime Minister to Hold Employees Like Vajpayee

New Delhi: Former PM Manmohan Singh has asked PM Modi to retain 14 people, including Atal Bihari Vajpayee and PV Narasimha Rao.
It should be noted that the government reduced the level of personal support of the former prime minister in May from 14 to five.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Singh said the former prime ministers mentioned above had also made use of it, and the precedent should be maintained.
Singh had mentioned in his letter that his government had allowed Vajpayee to retain his staff after being elected out of power in 2004. He said former prime ministers should be allowed to have a 14-member staff government to effect the 1990s, according to a decision by Narasimha Rao.
The PMO’s May 26 letter reportedly informed Singh of the government’s decision to reduce its workforce. The five employees include two personal assistants, a lower department employee and two peons.
The Modi government made the decision three days after being reelected to power with a majority of landslides.
