Malkangiri IIC suspended for taking bribes from Rs 1 lakh

Bhubaneswar: Police Director General (DGP) RP Sharma on Friday put Ranjan Kumar Sahoo, former competent inspector of the Malkangiri police station, suspended with immediate effect.
Sahoo was suspended due to his participation in the event of wakefulness. During the suspension period, he will remain under the disciplinary control of the DIG police, South Western Range, Koraput.
According to sources, Sahoo was caught while accepting an illegal recognition of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant Bidyut Charan Dash, a resident of Berhampura in the Ganjam district.
Sahoo requested a bribe from Dash, director of Om Bhurbhubah Swah College in Malangangiri, to minimize the crime in the case where Dash is charged.
The accused policeman was arrested on July 26th and sent to court.
