Mahendragirs in Odishi will be developed under the scheme Swadesh Darshan

Bhubaneswar: The Center has identified 15 destinations across the country, including Mahendragiri in Odisha for Tourism Development under the Swedish Swadesh Darshan Program of the Ministry of Tourism.
Mahendragiri is the mountain peak in Paralakhemundi division of the Gajapati district of Odisha. It is located among the eastern gates at an altitude of 1,501 meters.
State Minister of Culture and Ministry of Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel, in response to a question at Rajya Sabha today, said Ramayana Circuit is one of fifteen thematic circles identified for development under the Swadesh Darshan scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.
The Ministry initially identified fifteen destinations, including Sitamarhi, Bihar for development within the Ramayana Circuit theme, which are Ayodhya, Nandigram, Shringverpur and Chitrakoot (Uttar Pradesh), Sitamarhi, Buxar and Darbhanga (Bihar), Chitrakoot (Madhya Pradesh), Mahendragiri (Odisha), Jagdalpur (Chattisgarh), Nashik & Nagpur (Maharashtra), Bhadrachalam (Telangana), Hampi (Karnataka) and Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu), he said.
Development schemes under the scheme have been identified in consultation with national governments and administrations in the territory of the Union and sanctioned in accordance with available funds, by submitting appropriate detailed project reports, respecting the guidelines and using the funds announced earlier, informed Rajja Sabha.
