Mafia raising sand in Jharsuguda after abusing on duty soldier and circulating video

Jharsuguda: A sand-raising mafia was arrested today after a video surfaced of abusing an on-duty police constable at Badayamuda Square in Jharsuguda.
The accused has been identified as Saurav Patel, a native of Panchpadar area of Jharsuguda.
According to reports, on Monday night, the Jharsuguda police intercepted a truck filled with sand near Badayundha Chowk. During the inspection, Patel verbally abused the police constable and also shot a video of his hooliganism.Patel, who is involved in illegal sand-lifting, abused an on-duty police constable when the latter and two other security guards intercepting his vehicle. The video of the incident which went viral on social media, however, proved costly to him.“We have arrested a sand lifting mafia named, Sourav Patel today for verbally abusing police constables in Badheimuda Square and circulating a video of the same. The video was made by him and he circulated that in the social media to malign the image of the police. We have also checked the CCTV footage regarding the incident. He was also trying to give bribe to police constable during the inspection on that day,” said SDPO, Kailash Acharya.
A case (612/19) has been registered against Patel under Sections 445, 469, 294, 332, 506 of the IPC and Section 66 of IT Act. Further investigation is underway, a police official said.
