Low pressure above BoB: IMD predicts heavy rain, red alert for 8 districts Odisha

Bhubaneswar: While the low pressure area above the northeastern Bengal bay and neighborhood has caused heavy rain in Odisha, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued a “Red alert” for eight Odisha districts.
Warning for isolated heavy to very heavy rain was issued for the Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Angul, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Dhenkanal districts.
Fourteen districts such as Balasore, Bhadrak, Jaipur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanjh, Boudh, Bolangir, Nuapara, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur are likely to experience moderate precipitation.
Center Met predicted an increase in precipitation through Odish today, since low pressure is increasing and slowly moving west.
Probably will become more pronounced and concentrate on depression in the next 48 hours.
Predicting the heavy rainfall in the country by 3 July, the IMD regional center warned the government of Odish to take appropriate measures for possible flood-like situations in the upper watersheds of the Mahanadi River.
