Last rites of Sushma Swaraj with full state honors, leaders paid tribute

New Delhi: Former External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj was cremated at Lodhi Road crematorium with full state honors on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi became emotional while paying homage to Swaraj.
The mortal remains of the former Delhi Chief Minister were kept at his residence in the morning. He was later taken to the BJP headquarters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, veteran BJP leader LK Advani were the key personalities to pay their last respects at the residence of Sushma Swaraj and meet her family members.
The 67-year-old veteran BJP leader complained of restlessness at 9 pm on Tuesday night and was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at 9.30 pm. A team of doctors tried to revive him for 80–90 minutes, however, he was declared dead at 10.50 pm.
Political leaders across party lines mourned and mourned his sudden death. President Ram Nath Kovind went to Swaraj’s house at Jantar Mantar Road in central Delhi to pay his last respects. She interacted with her husband Swaraj Kaushal and other family members. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute.
UPA President Sonia Gandhi was seen hugging Swaraj’s daughter Bansuri. His son Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also visited Swaraj’s house. BJP veteran LK Advani and his daughter Pratibha, who have an old relationship with Swaraj, were in tears.
In his tribute, 91-year-old Advani said that he did not remember even a year when he missed bringing his favorite chocolate cake on his birthday.
