Floods in Bihar: 25 people killed, 25.71 lakhs hit, says CM Nitish Kumar

Patna: At least 25 people were killed and more than 25 people were hit by floods in 16 counties, Chief Minister Bihar Nitish Kumar said.
Kumar said on Tuesday that the Sitamarhi and Araria districts were the worst hit.
Kumar told the National Assembly that he had ordered officials to step up relief and rescue operations.
The Chief Minister said: “A total of 125 powerboats have been pressed. Rescue forces helped rescue 1.25 people from floodplains. ” Nearly 1.16 people found shelter in shelters set up by the government.
Kumar conducted aerial survey of Seemanchal and Koshi in flooded areas on Sunday and Monday.
In the meantime, fresh floods in three new districts of Katihar, Purne and Sahars added problems.
All major rivers in Bihar run above the level of danger in the last 24 hours, causing the embankment to collapse. A number of villages are immersed in water.
