Malkangiri: In a great gesture, a doctor in Nuguda village in Malkangiri district carried a patient five km on his shoulder to take him to the headquarters hospital for immediate treatment.
In recent times, there were many instances of patients being carried on cot in hospitals by their families. However, something different has happened in Nuaguda village of Khairput block in Malkangiri district.
According to sources, a 12-year-old orphan boy was suffering from fever for the past few days. His health condition deteriorated this morning. Subsequently, the NGO contacted the emergency service.
However, the driver expressed inability to reach the village due to poor road condition.
During this time, a doctor, Shakti Prasad Mishra, who works with Arogya Plus, an NGO posted in the village, got information about the condition of the minor. With no delay, the doctor, with the help of the ambulance driver, lifted the minor on his shoulders and walked for about 5 kilometers.
