Defense Minister overrides Indian mountaineering expedition to MT Makalu

New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh today ended the Indian Army’s first mountaineering expedition to Mount Makalu in 2019.
“The Indian Army Mountaineering Team achieved a unique award by setting 16 members on May 16, 2019, to the top of Mount Makalu, the fifth highest peak in the world,” a statement said.
The Indian army has now climbed all eight thousand in Nepal. A very experienced and balanced team was short-listed and trained for the expedition, which required pure determination, team spirit and logistical support.
The team faced many challenges and challenges along the way, fighting the fury of nature, overcoming deep crevasses, surviving blizzards and climbing near vertical rocks and ice walls and the nation.
The expedition has shown that on a given occasion, the army team is able to reach any altitude in any terrain under any circumstances.
