Decision on opening of temples soon as HC gives nod: Odisha Law Minister

Cuttack: A decision on opening of temples and other religious institutions will be taken soon, Odisha Law Minister Pratap Jena on Monday said.
He said the situation will be assessed and guidelines will be laid down for the opening of temples in the state.
Meanwhile, the Orissa High Court has asked the government to decide on the opening of temples and other religious institutions outside containment zones in the state.
The High Court issued the order while hearing a plea on opening of Puri Jagannath temple and other religious institutions.
The HC has ruled that the temples outside containment zones can be reopened strictly adhering to COVID-19 guidelines. It also directed the state government to take a final decision on the matter.
Prakash Panda, priest of Kakatpur Maa Mangala temple and 15 others, including Trilochan Rath had filed a petition in the High Court praying for reopening of religious institutions including Puri Jagannath temple.
