
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health & Family Welfare Department on Wednesday issued a notification inviting applications from qualified specialists, MBBS doctors, staff nurses & paramedics to serve people in various State-run hospitals on short-term contract basis for period of 3 months to meet any exigencies arising out of Coronavirus outbreak. In the advertisement, the department offered the contractual doctors an opportunity to serve the people for a period of three months, which can be extended, if the situation demanded. The announcement mentioned that eligible doctors, staff nurses and other paramedics who wish to join the government’s mission to serve people in case the Coronavirus situation in Odisha blows out of proportions, may walk-in to respective CDM & PHOs office or apply in prescribed format given in https//dhsodisha.nic.in along with scanned documents with proof of their qualification, age, identity, registration number of Odisha Medical Council or any other registration and photograph in the e-mail ID of respective CDM & PHOs. The contractual doctors will be provided a monthly honorarium for their services in government hospitals as mentioned below, the advertisement noted.

Earlier, Odisha government had presented a realistic scenario of the Covid-19 in the State. The numbers suggested as many as 100 individuals with some Covid-19 symptoms have been identified in Odisha while the hospital isolation cases had posted a spike to touch 45 on Tuesday. roto Bagchi, spokesperson on Covid-19 said the challenge is quite enormous. The conservative projection is that the total Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha may rise to 2,345 by mid- May. And the realistic estimate the total Covid-19 positive cases in the State may touch a massive 36,000 by May 15, he pointed out.
