Civil Services Day Today!

New Delhi: The Civil Services Day is celebrated on April 21. To mark the Civil Services Day, the country rewards the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration to various officers to celebrate their work.
The day celebrated all the civil servants who dedicate their lives to the cause of citizen. The day aims at renewing their commitments to public service and excellence in work.
April 21 is chosen to celebrate Civil Services Day as first Home Minister of the Republic of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in 1947 addressed the probationers of Administrative Services Officers at Delhi’s Metcalf House on this day. Sardar Patel referred to civil servants as the “steel frame of India”. The first Civil Services Day function was held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in 2006.
