Chidambaram staying in Tihar Jail: Roti-daal-sabzi for dinner, special cell with western toilet

New Delhi: A special CBI court on Thursday told senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P.K. Chidambaram was sent to judicial custody in Tihar Jail till 19 September in the INX Media case, stating that the charges against him were found to be “serious”.
After the court delivered its verdict, Chidambaram filed an application before the court directing him to ensure judicial custody, safe detention in drugs and spectacles. The Rusa Avenue court had allowed Chidambaram’s application to provide him with a separate cell to provide adequate security and ordered his officers to provide a separate cell with adequate security.
Chidambaram, who was transferred from the Rouse Avenue Court to Tihar Jail in a police bus amidst high security, waved his supporters through the windows. He is housed in jail number 7, ward number 2, cell number 15. Tihar and more than 700 prisoners are lodged in jail number 7.
