Chidambaram remained in CBI custody till August 26

New Delhi: Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who was arrested yesterday in the INX Media corruption case, has been remanded to CBI custody till August 26.
A special CBI court in Rouse Avenue, Delhi has allowed the CBI to take Chidambaram on a four-day remand till August 26, even with the investigating agency seeking a five-day remand.
Special CBI Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar had earlier reserved the order on the CBI remand petition and later allowed the investigating agency to take Chidambaram on a four-day remand.
Kuhar remanded the CBI saying, “Considering all the facts and circumstances, I believe Chidambaram’s police custody is justified”. The judge asked the CBI to conduct medical examination of Chidambaram as per rules.
The court allowed Chidambaram’s family members and lawyers to meet him for half an hour every day during CBI custody.
