Brishti Bagchi becomes India’s first footballer to play for Madrid club

New Delhi: Bengaluru-based footballer Brishti Bagchi is poised to make history by becoming India’s first footballer to play for Madrid’s Club de Futbol Femenino.
Bagchi, who plays as a striker, has been selected to play for the reserve team of the Madrid club de Futbol Femenino for the upcoming season. He will play in the Primera División Pro, which is the top division of the Spanish Women’s League.
Bagchi underwent trials at the club last year in September and the Madrid CFF offered a contract after evaluating her performances.
Bagchi moved to the United States in 2012, where she played varsity football for the University of Oklahoma City and the University of North Texas. Earlier this year, she played for Bangalore United in the Indian Women’s League.
