Body of married woman exhumed in Kendrapara village

Kendrapara: The body of a married woman, which was buried a few days ago, was exhumed by police from a crematorium in Bandhasahi area under Nikirai police limits in Kendrapara district.
The deceased, identified as Parbati Mallick, succumbed while undergoing treatment at a local hospital due to illness.
The body, which had been buried, was exhumed after relatives of the woman alleged foul play by her in-laws.
As per the complaint lodged with Nikirai police, Parbati, who was married to one Chitrasen Mallick in 2009, was admitted at the hospital on June 8. However, she died while undergoing treatment.
On being alerted, Parbati’s parents rushed to the hospital, but Parbati’s body was claimed by her in-laws by then. The in-laws then buried the body without sending it for post-mortem.
Acting on the complaint, cops exhumed the body from the local crematorium and sent it for post mortem. Police have also detained Parbati’s husband for questioning, sources said.
