BJD Not a Party, But People’s Movement: Naveen Patnaik on BJD Foundation Day

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day in Bhubaneswar with much fanfare and performance on Thursday. On this occasion, Odisha Chief Minister and party supremo Naveen Patnaik gave a strong message.
Patnaik said in his speech that the ruling Biju Janata Dal has already become a “people’s movement” after serving the people of Odisha for the past 22 years. He further said that the party does not depend on any particular leader including him.
Patnaik claimed that BJD has inherent strength due to selfless service to the four and a half crore people of Odisha.
The CM of Odisha recalled a message from his father and former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, asking his followers not to be obedient to him; Rather they should be loyal to the state. The BJD supremo also said that 4.5 crore people of Odisha are members of his family. “We are humbly discharging the responsibility they have given us.”
Patnaik also said that the party does not work hard to win in the elections. “We want to win over the people of Odisha through our service. And for this we are working all year long. BJD has earned glory and has become a symbol of development through it. The party has earned the hope and trust of the people of Odisha, ”he said.While the 23rd foundation day of BJD was celebrated across the state, the state-level celebration was held at the party office in the capital city.
