Annual Konark Festival Concludes

Konark: The five-day annual Konark Festival of classical dance presented by the country’s iconic dancers closed in a memorable note.
In the open-air auditorium with the famous Sun Temple at the back drop, the cast of Bharatanatyam and Odissi shook the spirits of the audience with their serene and magnificent dance.Celebrated Bharatnatyam Guru Vaibhav Arekar and troupe from Mumbai entered the stage with Suryastuti a prayer to Sun God. The second recital was ‘Jatiswaram’ offering interpretation of the Bharatnatyam Vocabulary with the strength of an ensemble. The rhythmic, dynamic and lyrical note in the choreography made the audience applaud.
The concluding item of the evening was dance drama ‘Hansadoota’ presented by the artistes of Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra the tale of the golden swans being instrumental in establishing everything. Taken from Harivansha Mahapurana, the dance drama glorified the pursuit of art which can lead everything to perfection.
