Alumnus kills lecturer for smartphone: police

Sambalpur: Police on Thursday solved the mystery behind the death of a lecturer at Mura College in the district and claimed that he was murdered by a former student.
Speaking at a press conference today, Additional SP Pradeep Kishore Mahapatra said, the student accused for killing Huranand Pradhan has been identified as Dukhanasana Bagh. The accused had killed the lecturer for his smartphone, Mohapatra said.
According to Mahapatra, Dukhanasan used to come to the lecturer’s home often and try to steal his cellphone. When Pradhan opposed this, the accused hit him with a blunt object, which led to his death.
Pradhan’s body was found blood-soaked in his house on September 6 under Sasan police station in Sambalpur. He was a resident of Balianli village in Deogarh district.
