Akshay Verma, alum of NBA Global Academy, enrolls in Batte College

New Delhi: NBA Global Academy alum Akshay Verma joined Batte College in Northern California, where she will be a student-athlete studying marketing and communication and playing for the men’s basketball team.
The 7 ft 2 inch center is from India and moved to Australia in June 2017 when the NBA Global Academy was founded in Canberra.
Since 2016, Verma has been a part of several camps by NBA in 2018 including NBA Global Camp in Treviso, Italy where he competed with NBA Academy India prospects Aman Sandhu and Principal Singh.
Verma, a Hyderabad native, was first trotted for the AC-16-NBA jump program in 2015-16. Since then, he has been selected for a number of elite camps including Basketball Without Borders Asia 2016 and Basketball Without Borders Global 2017 in Australia during NBA All-Star Weekend 2017 in New Orleans.
He joined a select group of NBA academies at the NCAA Next Generation Showcase in San Antonio and Minnesota, respectively, in 2018 and 2019, where he served in the U.S. And competed against the high prospects of international high-school.
“When I came to NBA Global Academy in 2017, I really had no idea how far I could go. But the training and performance that I got here has brought me here today, which helped me to explore my potential. Now at Batte College, I will continue to be better at my game and work hard to get an NCAA scholarship.
