After Recovery From COVID-19, Patient No. 44 Died Due To Multi-Organ Failure: H&FW Dept

Bhubaneswar: The patient no. 44, who had recovered from COVID-19, breathed his last today at the hospital, informed Health & Family Welfare department.
Patient No. 44, from West Bengal, died this morning due to hypopituirism with septic shock & multi organ failure, added the H&FW dept.
According to reports, the patient had previously been operated at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar for pituitary tumour. During his visit for follow-up treatment, he was tested COVID-19 positive.
The State Health department further stated that after treatment, he was found negative for COVID-19 in two repeat tests but could not be discharged due to pre-existing other medical complaints.
Addressing a presser here this evening, Odisha Govt’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi, said that the patient no. 44 who died today had recovered from COVID-19 and he passed away because of pre-existing illness.
“Hence, we are not counting it as COVID-19 death and the total death toll in Odisha remains unchanged at one,” said Bagchi.
