2.66 lakh ineligible Kalia beneficiaries till now: Agriculture Minister

Bhubaneswar: About 2.66 lakh ineligible farmers’ aid has been identified so far for livelihood and income promotion (Kalia) beneficiaries, Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahu said on Thursday.
The Agriculture Minister informed media persons immediately after reviewing the high-level meeting on the Kalia Scheme at Krishi Bhavan here that 72 percent of the investigation work has been completed and 2.66 lakh beneficiaries out of 36.88 lakh applicants have been found ineligible so far.
“Nodal officers were engaged at panchayat, block and district level for verification of KALIA beneficiary list. So far, 72 percent of the verification has been completed. The earlier deadline was 14 August which was later extended to 27 August. As of 14 August, 13 lakh beneficiaries were screened. The exact figure will be released after verification is complete by 31 August.
He further stated that apart from the exclusion process, strict instructions have been given to the Gram Panchayat level nodal officers to ensure that not a single eligible beneficiary is denied benefits during the investigation.
When asked about the process of refund of fake people already benefited from the scheme, the minister said that the verification process will continue till August 31 and the state government will take future action after the final verification data is received.
