2.6 lakh of cases of crimes against children in 3 years

New Delhi: From 2014 to 2016, as many as 2.60.553 cases of crimes against children have been reported, the Minister of Women’s Development Ziti and Children Smriti Zubin Irani announced on Thursday.
“According to information provided by the National Crime Record Office, a total of 89,443, 94,117 and 106,988 cases in the country were reported in the country within the framework of crimes against children in 2014, 2015 and 2016,” Rajhi Sabha told today.
She stated that a total of 35,881, 45,473 and 55,384 cases were pending an investigation at the end of 2014, 2015, and 2016. Similarly, a total of 130925, 165853 and 204100 cases were pending at the end of 2014, 2015, and 2016.
“Protecting Children from Sexual Delicts (POCSO) Amendment Bill, 2019, was introduced to Lok Sabha on January 8, 2019. Years, and Bill collapsed after the break-up of the 16th Sabbath, “she said.
The Minister of WCD said that Section 43 of the 2012 Law on the Protection of Children against Sexual Delinquency (POCSO Law) provides that the central government and each state government shall take all measures to give a wide publicity to the provisions of the Act.
“The Ministry of Women’s and Children’s Development (MWCD) has, from time to time, taken various steps to create awareness of the provisions of the POCSO Act through electronic and print media, counseling, workshops and training programs with stakeholders,” she added.
